Abyss - Monster Blog 18.4.2010
Ya
know, this time of year is one of my favorites for many reasons. The
sun is out, things are warming up quite nicely from the cold winter I
experienced, the trees are all covered in leaves, all the birds that ran
south for the winter are returning, AND its LOCKDOWN time here in TNA.
This is one of my favorite pay per view events of the year for several
reasons. First and foremost, the level of violence and brutality that is
exhibited at LOCKDOWN is unequaled in all of pro wrestling. I myself
have sustained some of my most impactful injuries and bad cuts at this
pay per view than any other TNA has during the year and guess
what??......I love it like that. Lockdown is the premier hardcore event
offered by TNA and the entire wrestling business. I have some unreal
and incredible memories of LOCKDOWN. Some involve me, some don’t.
My
most lasting memory was main eventing the first LOCKDOWN ever back in
2005 against AJ Styles. It was the first time either of us had main
evented a pay per view event since TNA began running the pay per views
on Sundays. The pressure was immence to say the least, but AJ and I,
like I believe we have always done, delivered on an excellent match that
was brutal and vicious on both if us. AJ sustained a massive cut on his
head when I swung the cage door into his face. Remember that??? Or how
about when AJ gave me his patented Styles Clash into the tacs??? The
match was excellent and took a toll on both of us. I sustained a
seperated shoulder during the event. I could barely climb the cage at
the end before AJ capitalized and sunset flipped powerbombed me off the
top of the cage. It was lights out for me. Seriously, I only remember
seeing a flash of white as I landed. It was like turning off an old TV,
everything went blank. When I came to, the referee had just counted the
three count.
Another great LOCKDOWN memory for me was watching
Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe from Lockdown a couple years ago. Wow what a
match. It was very strong style as both men hit each other with some
unbelievable kicks and punches during the match. It was probably the
most physical match I’ve ever seen at LOCKDOWN. Joe was victorious and
won his first TNA World Title, which is another great memory I will not
forget.
An of course, I’d be crazy to forget that this year’s
LOCKDOWN takes place in St. Louis at the Family Arena. This is the
second pay per view event TNA has done in St. Louis and the Family
Arena. What was the first one you ask??? Ironically, it was LOCKDOWN
2007. My fondest memory of the night that night was when Jeff Jarrett
loaded his guitar with my tacs and blasted me over the head with it
raining thumbtacks everywhere especially into my eyes!!!
LOCKDOWN
2010 will undoubtedly go down in history as the most intense LOCKDOWN
to date. It’s Team Hogan vs Team Flair. I am the captain of Team Hogan
and I’ve promised Hulk that I will not let him down....and I won’t. I
guarantee it. Team Flair and all four of it’s members have some payback
coming.....BIG payback. That payback will begin this Sunday at LOCKDOWN.
Thats
its for this week everyone!! Hope to see all our TNA fans in St. Louis
this weekend for the TNA Fan Interaction event Saturday and the big
LOCKDOWN pay per view event Sunday. Take care. Bye bye.
