Letter Printed In FSM: Fighting Spirit Magazine (Issue 57)
This was actually taken from a longer letter I wrote to them, but for those who have asked, this was what was printed in last month's Fighting Spirit Magazine:
Hi Fighting Spirit,
I’ve just been reading your magazine as I do every month, I’m a little late finishing this one (Issue 56) and I just wanted to mention something that I’ve noticed in the “Cut Above” column.
The main statements I wanted to point out are:
“Edge recently made his Wrestlemania match with Jericho more about getting revenge on him” - rather than on getting the World Title
And after rightfully putting over what a great job Jericho always does I almost stopped reading the column when I read this:
“One wrestler who does this even better than Jericho is John Cena”…
I almost spat out my drink when I read that.
Firstly, I don’t think it’s fair to put the blame on Edge for making his match with Jericho about anything because WWE tightly script everything on their awful kiddy shows - I think Edge’s promos and performances are always great - those are things he can control. I’m sure he would have loved to have rolled in to WrestleMania and taken the Title from Jericho, but WWE’s booking team is retarded, why blame Edge!?
Secondly (And lastly) please don’t give credit to Cena for anything in a wrestling ring - the guy sucks at everything I’ve seen him attempt.
If you are trying to say that Cena has done something worthwhile because he has been booked by WWE to go over on more talented guys for years on Raw, how does Cena get the credit for that? Credit the comic nerds who write the WWE PG shows with no quality wrestling on if you want, I personally wouldn’t, but I’d understand that a bit more.
Cena? He is just a puppet who goes out there, does what management tell him to do and say (REALLY badly) so I don’t think he should get credit for anything in a wrestling ring.
In real life? He might be a great guy - I have nothing personal against him, I am just very aware that in my eyes he has never done anything remotely worthy in pro wrestling to even be on TV at all , he applies no pressure to submission holds (The STFU is just a very homosexual light cuddle, let’s be honest here), he has no technique on any of the moves he does, He looks like he is taking a dump when he tries to sell either a hold or a bump, I can’t stand his annoying promos or his voice, his punches miss by a few inches and he looks like he is having some kind of seizure while he is doing them. What exactly is the 5 Knuckle Shuffle? It’s a less athletic version of Scotty 2 Hotty‘s “The Worm” which was still damn goofy for an undercard talent to do, but a main event guy doing that shit in a World Title Match at Mania!? SERIOUSLY WTF!??
Cena has NO talent that I’m aware of… he visit’s a lot of sick children - which should be applauded, but in a wrestling ring!? The guy has less talent than anyone I can think of, even on the Indys I can’t think of anyone who is as comically awful as Cena.
I’m straining my brain to think of an undercard talent on the Indys who is as bad as Cena but there isn’t one I can think of. Seriously. They are all better workers than Cena.
Cena’s popularity comes from the portion of the wrestling viewing audience who don’t really like or understand Pro Wrestling. Because you run a “Pro Wrestling” & MMA magazine, even if kids do buy it, I think you should try to educate them to actually appreciate the real art of Pro Wrestling and not encourage them to think Cena has any kind of artistic worth or merit because those fans wont be buying your magazine in a few years, but the real wrestling fans will.
I’d like to request for you to be honest about Cena‘s shortcomings, not to pander to the children who read your magazine, but for the sake of wrestling history - someone could read your magazine in 10 years and think that Cena in some way did something good for wrestling, but that is just not true no matter how anyone tries to talk around the fact that Cena doesn’t know how to work - It’s irrelevant how many T-Shirts he sells to kids, in fact it’s a BAD thing because maybe those kids would be buying Matt Hardy T-Shirts instead if he was booked in the same way and I wouldn’t have a problem with that because HE KNOWS HOW TO WORK!!
WWE could take anyone and make them loved by kiddies by booking them in the same way. How do I know this? Because they also managed it with with Batista -another no-hope WBF wannabe - book anyone with no talent as strong as they have with these two guys and the kiddies who think wrestling is real will think that THEY beat so-and-so and then they will read your mag and think Cena also had a hand in making one of his storylines better according to FSM, but that’s not actually true, he just does what he is told… BADLY!!!
