TNA - Final Resolution 2010
I am about to watch TNA's Final Resolution PPV from Sunday and here are my thoughts as I'm watching the event....
Beer Money Vs Ink Inc are opening the PPV....
They are having a solid tag match with everyone looking great.... Jesse Neal has improved a lot since he debuted in TNA. Beer Money are dividing the ring, working on Jesse and exchanging places behind the referee's back without making a legal tag (old school).... Hot tag finally to Shannon Moore, who seems on top form. Shannon hits a great Asai Moonsault to Robert Roode.... Beer Money are always excellent so it seems a moot point..... Beer Money get the win with the last call kick and then into the DWI (Powerbomb / Neckbreaker combo) for the win. Great way to start the show.
Tera Vs Mickie Falls Count Anywhere Match is up next....
After a few minutes the match goes to the outside and they battle into the backstage area. Solid backstage brawl between the two. Almost seems like an ode to the classic WWF Attitude-era Hardcore Title match, with Tera and Mickie fighting into the Men's bathroom and even a fire extinguisher comes into play when Madison Rayne helps Tera take the victory. It would have been nice to have a clean finish and for the match to have a little more time, but they both worked hard and I thought the action was pretty good.
Jay Lethal vs Robbie is next, with Cookie trapped in the cage... This reminds me of the great times when Bobby Heenan or Jim Cornette had to be held in a cage outside the ring to stop them interfering in their guy's matches during the 80's..... Both guys are having a good match until the finish... Cookie threw her hairspray to Robbie, but Jay Lethal caught the spray, sprayed it at Robbie and got DQ'd for it..... Lethal looked great, as he always does. Annoying booking for the finish, especially as there was a screwy finish in the last match. Shark Boy comes to the ring and hits a Stunner on Cookie. Random and a bit pointless but at least it didn't waste much time before they cut away to a backstage interview with Tommy Dreamer talking about the next match and the history behind it....
RVD Vs Rhino is up next in a First Blood Match.... This is one of the matches I am looking forward to most. The original ECW is my favourite promotion of all time and I'm a big fan of both guys. This is a hard-hitting match as expected from these two, with some great spots in the match including a Spike DDT & Super-Gore by Rhino. RVD hits the Van Daminator & the Van Terminator to get the win. Great stuff, I could watch all day. I would have liked for them to have more time, but at least there was a clean finish with Rhino getting busted open after the Van Terminator and RVD getting the win.
I thought the action in this match was great, I just wish that they had more time and it could have made this very good hardcore match into a great match.
AJ Styles Vs Doug Williams, TV Title..... This is another match I have really been looking forward to. I've seen these two guys have a classic match against each other on a British FWA show in 2002. I'm expecting this to be the best match on the show.
Wow. I don't know if words will do this match justice.... Great match.
I challenge any WWE fanboy to compare this match to Sheamus Vs Cena or Sheamus Vs Orton or Wade Barrett Vs anyone... and tell me that WWE have a better product than TNA do. WWE don't do wrestling matches like this, which is why I prefer TNA to WWE. Awesome match.
Doug Williams beat AJ with the Styles Clash to become the new TV Champion.
Motor City Machineguns Vs Generation Me, Ladder Match....
Hard-hitting.... Innovative... This was a really incredible match. Again, words can't do justice to how great this match was. WWE Fanboys!? They must be blind.
Compare this match to Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel vs Santino & Vladimir Koslov probably on the next WWE PPV and tell me that WWE have a better product than TNA do.... What a joke....
Motor City Machine Guns won what was probably the best tag team match of the year and retained the TNA Tag Team Titles.
Abyss Vs The Pope Angelo Dinero, Casket Match
Pope took a crazy back bump from the top rope onto the casket outside the ring....
Abyss won the match but the Pope looked especially good.
They had a difficult spot on the card, coming after 3 really intense and solid matches but I thought they did well.
Backstage, security guys attack Samoa Joe who sells his ankle as being injured.
Samoa Joe Vs Jeff Jarrett, Submission Match... Action in the match was okay. Jarrett made Joe submit to the ankle lock. Joe was not under contract to TNA (and may still not be) so I understand Jarrett going over in the match, but it still sucked to see Joe tap out to Jarrett, as he is the Samoan Submission Machine.... Shame they didn't book him to lose a different kind of match than what he is supposed to specialise in....
Jeff Hardy Vs Matt Morgan, TNA World Title, with Mr Anderson as the Special Guest Referee...
I haven't been especially looking forward to Hardy Vs Morgan, but hopefully they will surprise me... Well, it was okay, they both seemed to work hard and it wasn't a bad match, but it just wasn't great, especially as Eric Bischoff came down for the finish and helped Jeff beat Matt Morgan after a "Twist Of Hate" on a chair.
I wouldn't have minded this match somewhere else on the card, but not really as the main event.
That said, I'd rather watch Hardy Vs Morgan on repeat all day than sit through a Cena, Orton, Barrett, Sheamus, Big Show, Kane bore-fest.
Overall I thought it was a good show.... RVD Vs Rhino, Doug Williams Vs AJ Styles & Generation Me Vs MCMG were all great matches that I'm pleased I watched and I'll hopefully watch each of them again soon. Worth the price of the PPV for these 3 matches? I think so for sure. All the other matches were pretty solid too at Final Resolution and overall I enjoyed the event.
I preferred this event 100 times more than WrestleMania and nothing made me want to pull my hair out or fall into a coma like when I try to sit through a WWE kids comedy show (Raw & PPVs specifically).
The only thing I thought that the PPV lacked was Kurt Angle and I hope he is back soon. I can never watch enough Kurt Angle but thankfully there are more than enough talented workers in TNA who made this a good PPV, with at least 3 matches that you should go out of your way to watch
I think I would struggle choosing 3 good WWE PPV matches all year!
So, overall this was a really good event, but when compared with a WWE PPV, it seemed incredible and a breath of fresh air from the Cena / Nexus / Orton crap.
