WWE Raw Recap & Thoughts 10th Jan 2011

Raw starts with Santino & Koslov coming down for their Tag Team Title defence.... which doesn't happen as the comedy duo get beaten down by Nexus... CM Punk cuts a promo on taking out John Cena and being the new leader of Nexus and he tells the members of Nexus they must prove they have what it takes to belong in the New Nexus.

CM Punk tells Michael McGuillicutty that his initiation will be to be beaten down by the Nexus members... so each member of Nexus hits McGuillicutty with their finisher and leave the ring with him laying and selling a beat down in the ring...

R-Truth & Alberto come to the ring on Fast-Forward because I can't take R-Truth's song for the millionth time or Alberto's long entrance.... After a couple of minutes of action, R-Truth gets counted out... I'm pleased I skipped the entrances because they would have been longer than the match! lol

Promo by Alberto... I Fast-Forwarded the promo and the break....

After the break, Michael Cole is reading from his laptop a message from the non-existant GM.. which will most likely turn out to be Michael Cole.... The King tells Michael Cole to shut up and closes the laptop....

The pretend GM causes the lights to flicker and a stupid sound to come from the sound system by magic and says that Miz & Riley will take on King & Orton tonight through Michael Cole's laptop.....

Wow, thanks so much, that sounds like a real classic.... (yes, that was sarcasm)

Backstage CM Punk tells Husky that his initiation is to take 3 lashings with a leather strap to show he belongs in the new Nexus.
Each member gives him really light PG-rated "lashings" which he sells well, but the fact that he doesn't have a mark on his back afterwards is proof that they weren't even doing it hard - Especially for a big guy like Husky who probably hardly felt anything.

After the break, Daniel Bryan & Mark Henry Vs Ted Dibiase & Tyson Kid is about to start...
Mark Henry gets the pinfall on Tyson Kid after a 2 minute match. Tyson & Daniel Bryan looked good in those 2 minutes, shame that the one guy with no wrestling talent scored the pinfall in the match...

Big Show comes down to the ring.... He says he will knock out Wade Barrett on Smack Down and that he will win the Royal Rumble.... Nexus' music plays and David Otunga comes to the ring and slaps Big Show for his initiation.... Big Show kicks him in the gut and throws him out of the ring.... throws him over the announce table and back into the ring, where he chokeslams him and "K.O." punches him to the mat....

This is just way too much Nexus on the show, especially considering that there is only one member of the group who isn't as green as grass..... (CM Punk)

Sheamus Vs John Morrison....


As usual Morrison looked good during all of his offensive moves and I felt like falling into a coma every time Sheamus took control of the match with his slow-paced nothing-happening offence... Thankfully Morrison won the match with a running knee....

Backstage Punk gives Slater & Gabriel Kendo sticks and tells them to hit eachother with
them... Both are hesitant to strike the other and consider striking Punk... but decide to throw down the Kendo sticks without striking anyone and leave the area.... I quite liked this segment.

Jerry "The King" Lawler is in the ring after a commercial break and announced Shawn Michaels into the Hall Of Fame for 2011....
Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest and completely deserves it.....

Shawn Michaels comes to the ring... Before he can say anything, Alberto Del Rio comes down the ramp and tells Shawn that he is the present and future and that he will win the Royal Rumble and go to WrestleMania to win the World Title... Shawn Michaels hits the Superkick on Alberto and then dances around the ring...

I would have preferred the segment more if Shawn had just thanked the fans and said what an honor it was to be inducted....

Miz tells Riley backstage that he is the WWE Champion and that people don't give him respect, so tonight in their tag match he wants to hurt Lawler & Orton....

Michael Cole is in the ring, he says he will be joined by Cena... About to hit Fast Forward button... but CM Punk is on top of the Titan Tron with a microphone.... He says that he is prepared to prove his dedication to Nexus... insinuating that he is about to jump from the Titan Tron.... He asks the fans if he should dive from the Tron and break every bone in his body... the fans seem to cheer... Then he asks how gullible all the people are as he has a harness on and 2 guys spotting him.... "what kind of an idiot jumps from the Tron?" and he tells the people in the arena to consider themselves initiated... Initiated into what? Nexus?
Otunga, McGuillicutty and Husky go to the ring and are joined by CM Punk.... David Otunga is still wearing a ripped-up T-Shirt from his beating given to him by Big Show... even though he has been in the back for over 30 minutes... he couldn't change his T-shirt in that time before coming back out? Oh no, Cena is on the Titan Tron... Fast Forward button....

He probably said he will be back to get Nexus, blah blah blah....

Lawler & Orton Vs Alex Riley & The Miz....


Lawler beats up Miz in the early going and throws him into the steel steps and back into the ring... Miz tags to Riley who gets backdropped and he tags Orton in... Kick... forearm, punch, punch, kick, kick, kick, kick... the usual crap he does. I wish he would learn to do something more in the ring.... Riley in... Orton hits a clothesline and a stomp... and another stomp... yes, and yet another stomp... and tags out...

Does no one else notice how Orton only kicks and punches other than his 4 signature moves?

More kicks and punches by Lawler & Miz before Miz slaps on a chinlock on Lawler... Clothesline in the corner by The Miz and they go to break....

Back from break... Miz stomps Lawler... Orton comes in the ring and hits the RKO (One of the 4 moves he does) on Riley ... Lawler gets the tag to Orton, who hits a slam on Riley and then the backbreaker (3 moves down) then the DDT (that's it, all 4 moves complete) he does another RKO on Riley and stares at the Miz... Tags in Lawler who hits his fistdrop from the second rope to end another trademark pathetic Raw main event... Thanks WWE....
