CM Punk recently spoke with the Chicago Tribune, here are the highlights…
On Vince McMahon's Reaction to His Promo This Summer: "He had dollar signs in his eyes. He said, 'Hell of a promo. Too bad you're leaving. We could make a lot of money together.' At that point, I was so out the door. ... I was counting down the days."
On Turning Down a WWE Films Role: "(WWE) offered me a movie when I first told them I wasn't re-signing. I immediately turned it down. They probably figured I would jump at a movie because I'm not a movie star. That's not to say that if the right thing doesn't come along, I won't do it. That's not my priority. … I think WWE films signed on three new movies. I'm sure one of them is probably slated to be a CM Punk vehicle. I haven't heard anything yet. Nothing is set in stone. Take that for what it's worth. I think I would love to do a movie if it's the right project. I'm not going to be in 'The Marine 3' just because they offered it to me. If it's something good, I'll do it. I'd love to do it – as long as it doesn't interfere with my wrestling schedule."
On Promos: "What people need to realize is I'm not just watching promos on wrestling. The reporter on CNN interviewing Joe Paterno is a promo to me. I listen to the inflection in people's voice, their body language, what they do with their hands, fidgety, how many times they touch their face -- depending in what situation they're being interviewed for. If they're on the spot or they're guilty of something, emotional, nervous, joyful, just won the Super Bowl. I watch people's eyes mostly: How to convey certain emotions, rage, happiness, sadness."
CM Punk said during a recent interview with ESPN that Chris Jericho has never been "The Man" in WWE. Punk told ESPN that he felt that Jericho has always played second fiddle to someone else.
"There's always, I think, somebody that has overshadowed him," he said. "I guess an argument can be made that John Cena is still 'The Man.' But the numbers don't lie with merchandising, ratings and everything else. We're not trying to hotshot the title around or play hot potato with it. We're giving people a champion they can believe in. And Jericho was never really that guy. He was never really, I guess, the ambassador John Cena has been and that I've been lately. That's what I meant by that."
Punk also talked about his match last year with Randy Orton, saying, "At Wrestlemania last year -- and I always say I thrive in high-pressure situations -- my job was to steal the show and prove to everybody how awesome I was and what an amazing talent they were losing. I went out there with Randy [Orton] and we put on, in my opinion, the best match on the show of pure wrestling. I wasn't concerned about what I was doing next year. I was leaving in my mind. I didn't think I would still be here or holding the title."

Did He Think He'd Be WWE Champion A Year Ago?: "No, because I was leaving. Has MMA Influenced His Ring Style?: "Yes and no. It's hard to try to translate a lot of stuff. I prefer to throw kicks and elbows instead of punches, but that was always a part of me. But I've always been a fan, so I don't know if that stems from MMA. But I try to keep my pro wrestling, pro wrestling
