Jack Swagger Interview
CORPUS CHRISTI — The year 2012 will be the year of "Swag."
That's what WWE Superstar Jack Swagger predicts for his future.
"You're definitely going to see an evolution of the All-American American," Swagger said. "I'm not going to be satisfied until Jack Swagger is back at the top of the mountain."
The All-American American and the rest of the Raw Superstars will look to build momentum for the year when WWE returns Monday for the Raw SuperShow.
The show begins at 7:15 p.m. at the American Bank Center, 1901 N. Shoreline Boulevard.
"We've got a great roster, a lot of top talent," Swagger said. "We're bringing the SmackDown! boys over. It's going to be a lot of fun and you're really not going to know what to expect."
Monday's card features WWE Champion CM Punk defending his title against The Miz as well as John Cena battling Kane. Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne and several Divas and SmackDown Superstars also are scheduled to appear. Matches and talent are subject to change.
Matches for WWE's online program "WWE Superstars" also will be taped during the event.
Swagger said the Superstars and Divas will look to make a name en route to WrestleMania in April, as well as the Royal Rumble pay-per-view later this month.
WWE last slammed into Corpus Christi with a nontelevised show last October.
"Texas knows a thing or two about wrestling," Swagger said. "I'm really excited every time we come there, because the audience always gives us that little extra momentum that we need. It helps us do the things that we do much better."
One of Swagger's goals for 2012 includes capturing the U.S. Championship, currently held by Zack Ryder. Swagger spent part of last year chasing the WWE Tag Team Championship with Ziggler, whom Ryder defeated last month to win the U.S. title.
"The All-American American was born to be the United States Champion," he said. "(Ryder's) really molded himself into championship material to cool off his momentum is going to be kind of tough. I'm going to get in there and throw my weight around a little bit and show him how to wrestle."
