OTTAWA - In the midst of a WWE Universe storm, John Morrison is holding a grudge.
And
while CM Punk is stewing after becoming an undisputed champion at
Summer Slam, only to have Kevin Nash throw himself into the middle and
Alberto Del Rio pin Punk to become the new champion, Morrison could
carry the grudge into a huge live RAW TV show in Edmonton Aug. 22.
R Truth is the guy with the bull’s-eye on his back this time.
“I
am a laid-back surfer kid from California in real life,” says Morrison
(real name, John Hennigan). “But even a laid-back surfer kid can get
angry. I’m furious at R Truth, a guy I considered my friend at one
time.”
After being sidelined a couple of times after attacks by R
Truth, Morrison returned to RAW late last month and attacked his
adversary.
Morrison is happy with his place in WWE.
“You
look at John Cena and CM Punk. They’re both very talented with a great
mind for the business. But I have a lot of things they don’t have. The
time of John Morrison and the Jomo sapiens is just around the corner. I
love what I do. I love performing.”
Morrison admits he still gets nervous before grabbing a microphone.
“If
you’re nervous, it means you care about what you’re doing,” he said.
“Look at The Rock ... before he goes out there, he’s a nervous wreck.”
Morrison is looking forward to getting into the ring in Edmonton.
“Wrestling
has such a strong tradition in Canada,” he said. “I was just in Toronto
doing some media and bumped into like three guys who knew Edge. That
was so cool.”
Morrison also happens to have a superhot girlfriend, Melina, who was just released by WWE.
“The idea of having more freedom to choose when and where to work is liberating for her,” said Morrison.
Quick hits
John Morrison was asked to sum up some of WWE’s personalties in a couple of words. Here’s how he responded.
CM Punk: “Opinionated.”
Triple H: “Ambitious, yet unproven.”
Randy
Orton: “Bad Ass. It’s tough to sum him up with one word. He’s an
anomaly. It seems as if he did everything a certain way because of who
he is. But he’s charismatic. And he’s entertaining to watch. You can’t
deny that.”
The Miz: “Really, really loud and annoying. Yet deceivingly loyal to his friends.”
Melina:
“The most talented diva ever to be employed by WWE. She’s got charisma
and sex appeal. But the main thing that sets her apart is she makes
people feel when she’s in the ring ... whether she’s angry, happy,
surprised or pissed off. Whatever she feels, the audience feels that.”
Vince McMahon: “A supertalented workaholic. Micromanager. A perfectionist who expects the same from his employees.”
