Kurt Angle Interview

Kurt Angle talks wrestling ahead of Times Union Center show

More than 15 years after he won a gold medal in wrestling at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and after more than a decade of being one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling, Kurt Angle still has something to prove.

He wants to make the Olympic wrestling team again. And he wants — indeed, plans — to do it at age 43, six years older than any other man who has ever wrestled for the U.S. at the Olympics. (The r...

YouTube.com Is My New Monday Night by Mark Madden

Posted by David Damage on Thursday, December 29, 2011 In : Internet Columns
YouTube.com is my new Monday night.

In succession, I recently watched Ole Anderson turn on Dusty Rhodes in 1980, turn on Thunderbolt Patterson in 1985 and kick Sting out of the Four Horsemen in 1990. Everything about those angles was better than anything done by WWE or Impact in years.

WWE just brings The Rock back. That’s it. That’s WWE’s idea of a BIG ANGLE.

WWE and Impact could use an Ole Anderson-type wrestler, a menacing big brute who strikes fear with earnest verbiage as much as he d...

Daniel Bryan = Fluke by Mark Madden

Daniel Bryan = Fluke by Mark Madden

I’ve got to laugh. WWE has spent years conditioning fans to accept a certain kind of wrestler as champ. Then it makes Daniel Bryan champ. Why?

To prove he can’t cut it, of course.

The perverse pleasures that go on in WWE's executive offices would shame Max Hardcore.

Bryan is an undersized vegan with a geeky beard. He compromised his own character when he passed up a main event at WrestleMania to get a greasy, crusty title win over The Big Show via MITB. He...

2011 Ring Of Honor "Final Battle" Thoughts by Kevin Kelly

It was the biggest show of the year for Ring of Honor and Final Battle had its share of good and bad. From my viewpoint inside the barricades to fan posts’ afterward, there was WAY too many chairshots. One is too many in my opinion… but are those of us concerned for the well-being of athletes missing the point? Or doing all we can?

Legendary Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka says the best way to stop football players from leading with ...

When looking through the archives of World Wrestling Entertainment, it is without doubt that the year 1997 is one of the most important in its illustrious history.

During this period, WWE was a place where things were rapidly changing, the rise of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the situation with Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart which led up to Montreal and the ECW Invasion were just a few factors which all contributed to WWE finally moving in the right direction to once aga...

WWE's Survivor Series PPV buy figure is lower than the initial estimate of 280,000. It was reported that of that figure, 180,000 purchases came from the United States.

The updated estimate drops the buy figure to 260,000 as only 160,000 PPV purchases came from the United States for The Rock's first wrestling match in over seven years.

The estimate compares to 244,000 buys for Survivor Series in 2010 and 235,000 in 2009, which nearly got the show scrapped from the annual PPV line-up!!
