TNA Impact Wrestling Thoughts By David Damage
US Air Date: 1st September 2011
TNA Impact is on the road, in Alabama.
Hogan comes to the ring and says that the only way Sting is going to get him into the ring for a match is when he says so.
Angle comes down the ramp and joins Hogan in the ring.
Hogan tells Angle that TNA was a sick place before he joined and he wants Dr Angle to grab Sting by his ankles, drag him to the ring and cut the cancer out of Sting and TNA.
Angle says that Hogan's enemies are his own enemies and he would love to take Sting out. He offers Sting a rematch for the World Title but says if Sting loses, he will not be able to walk out afterwards.
Sting comes to the ring to face Hogan and Angle.
Sting is honored that Angle wants to take him out and accepts his challenge for later tonight on Impact Wrestling.
Hogan announces he will be the special enforcer in the match as he feels that Sting has something planned... Sting doesn't look worried.
Good segment to start the show.
Back from the break, Matt Morgan joins Taz and Tenay at the announce table and we see Samoa Joe's backstage attack on Crimson from last week.
Bully Ray, Robert Roode and James Storm express their desire to win the Bound For Glory series in a video package.
Gunner Vs Rob Van Dam....
Samoa Joe starts heading to the ring as soon as the match starts and Matt Morgan leaves the announce desk to stop Joe from reaching the ring and interfering
in the match. Samoa Joe hits a low blow on Morgan and leaves him laying on the ramp.
The fans go crazy for everything RVD does in the match.
Jerry Lynn comes to ringside.... RVD leaves Gunner in the ring to tell Jerry Lynn to leave, which he does...
Back in the ring, RVD and Gunner continue the match.
Gunner gets a small package for a 2 count. RVD hits a thrust kick from the top rope on Gunner.
Jerry Lynn heads back down to ringside again as RVD is about to hit the 5 Star Frog Splash and pushes him off the top rope.
Gunner strikes with a hard-hitting flying knee on Van Dam and gets the 3 count. RVD looks pissed at Jerry Lynn, who has now completed his heel turn.
The Knockouts are on the ramp, awaiting the big announcement from Eric Bischoff....
Back from the break, the knockouts are in the ring and Eric Bischoff and Traci make their way down the ramp to make their announcement.
Bischoff puts over the Knockouts as an important part of TNA before saying that he couldn't stand dealing with them, so he announces that Karen Jarrett would now be the manager of the Knockouts...
Traci goes insane with the announcement, as she had been expecting to be made the manager of the division (after Traci had been supposedly sleeping with Eric for weeks under the pretence that she would be in control of the Knockouts Division).
Karen comes to the ring, with Jeff Jarrett and Karen assures Eric that he has made the right decision.
Karen cuts a good promo on the Knockouts, making Traci her executive assistant and officially adding Jackie to the Knockout roster.
After the break, they show Footage of a Mickie James / Winter & Angelina brawl which happened during commercials.
Brian Kendrick comes to the ring as the "Wizard Of Odd" (lol) along with Jesse Sorensen to face Austin Aries and Kid Kash.
Great work from all guys in this really good tag team match.
From the later stages of the match, Sorensen lands really hard from the top of a massive "Tower of Doom" in the corner.
Austin Aries hits a suicide dive on Sorrensen. Kendrick hits a suicide dive on Austin Aries before they brawl down the ramp, to the back.
In the ring, Kid Kash hits a hard clothesline from the top rope and a great standing suplex on Jesse. Sorrensen reverses a powerbomb into a Sunset Flip for the surprise 3 count on Kash, to win the match and continue their feud which started last week on Impact.
Winter and Angelina are shown backstage preparing for the Knockout Title match later in the night and Mickie cuts a short backstage promo on wanting to beat Winter and regain the Title...
After the break, a video package is shown, featuring the TNA roster talking about Jeff Hardy having to deal with the personal problems he had.... Mike Tenay says that the network have given Jeff Hardy time to talk next week on Impact.
Hogan interrupts a backstage Kurt Angle promo and tells him that Jeff Hardy is on his way back to TNA and he wants to take him out as well as the whole network, who have given Jeff permission to return...
TNA Knockouts Title
Winter (Champion) Vs Mickie James
Mickie regains the Title in a really good Knockout match
A cool Video package is shown, showcasing the story behind the AJ Styles Vs Christopher Daniels match tonight.
Matt Morgan comes to the ring and cuts a promo on Samoa Joe, calling him out for a match.
Samoa Joe heads to the ring, taking out the referee on the way and brawls with Matt Morgan....
They brawl to the outside and Joe manages to stop Morgan with another low blow and hits him with a couple of chairshots before a few referees come to ringside to stop the attack. Really good segment.
Matt Morgan, Gunner, AJ Styles and Scott Steiner are featured in a video segment talking about wanting to win the Bound For Glory series.
I like these segments as they really put over how important it is to these guys to win the series and become TNA World Champion which makes all the matches
in the BFG Series important as well as putting over the World Title as important at the same time.
Eric Young / Robbie E are backstage and Eric Young challenges him to a match next week.
AJ Styles and Chris Daniels are backstage and they both agree to not hold anything back in their match tonight.
Styles comments that Jeff Hardy returning means that guys in the company must get 4th and 5th chances....
Hogan and Bischoff with the rest of Immortal are backstage, unhappy with Jeff Hardy returning to TNA and determined to take Sting out....
AJ Styles Vs Christopher Daniels
This is a brilliant match. Every move these guys make is crisp and everything looked perfect.
Pro Wrestling doesn't get much better than this.
Similar to the way Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels main evented WrestleMania 12 as two of the greatest pro wrestlers in the world -
Chris Daniels and AJ Styles should be main eventing WrestleMania! The biggest show of the year, right?
In 2011 - the greatest wrestlers in the world are battling on TNA Impact while WWE gives us Cena and The Miz - two of the worst wrestlers in the world, as the main event of WrestleMania. I love that TNA are the pro wrestling alternative to WWE's childish comedy clown show crap.
The finish of the match told a great story.... AJ Styles slipped off the top rope and Daniels quickly covered him for the pinfall.
AJ Styles tried to shake his friend Chris Daniel's hand after the loss, but Daniels wouldn't shake his hand and left the ring with a sly grin on his face...
I'm looking forward to seeing more matches between these two and I like the slow heel turn by Daniels, after talking Styles into the match last week on Impact - in a really great in-ring segment by the way.
TNA WOrld Title Match
Kurt Angle (Champion) Vs Sting
Sting hits a hip toss and an armdrag on Angle to start the match. Angle slides to the outside. Back in the ring, Sting reverses an irish whip and clotheslines Angle, who heads to the outside again. Angle is sent into the guardrail and the steel steps and sent back into the ring.
Kurt catches a Stinger Splash and turns it into a beautiful overhead belly to belly suplex.
Sleeper by Kurt Angle is reversed into a back suplex by Sting. Both men get to their feet and Sting hammers Angle with elbows and clotheslines before hitting
a perfectly executed DDT for a 2 count.
Angle sends Sting into the ropes and catches him with three beautiful textbook german suplexes in a row.
Sting reverses an Angle Slam into the Scorpion Death Drop.
Kurt Angle reverses the Scorpion Deathlock attempt into the ankle lock. Sting kicks his way out and avoids a charging Angle who drives himself into the ring post. Sting goes for another Scorpion Death Drop, but Angle reverses it into a back throw and hits an Angle Slam on Sting for a 2 count.
Angle pulls down his straps and charges Sting, but is met with a big clothesline.
Sting slaps on the Scorpion Deathlock and Hogan outside the ring starts motioning to the back.... Gunner comes to the ring with a chair, but the referee stops him.
Kurt is tapping while the referee is caught up with Gunner, trying to get him out of the ring.
Hogan hits Sting with a chairshot, but Sting no-sells it.
Angle recovers and hits the Angle Slam on Sting onto the chair. Hogan instructs the referee to make the count and Angle wins the match to retain the TNA World Title.
This was a great match.
After the match, Sting sends Angle from the ring and goes after Hogan.
Scott Steiner and Bully Ray head to the ring to attack Sting....
Mr Anderson's music hits and he clears Immortal out of the ring.
All those WWE loyalists watching Mark Henry and John Cena stinking up the ring, with the NERVE to insult TNA make me laugh.
I thought this was another great Impact!
