My Apologies for posting this so late....
TNA Impact 6th October 2011
Impact starts with Beer Money heading to the ring.
Roode tells Storm that even though Fortune are friends and brothers, he wanted the best that AJ Styles and Kazarian could bring on previous Impacts and he wants to see the best from James Storm tonight in their match. Storm says that he will give 100% and believes he will prove that he is the better man.
Footage is shown of Hulk Hogan’s TNA debut, hyping his “announcement” later tonight….
Gunner Vs Kazarian
After a good, but short match in which Gunner targeted Kazarian’s arm, he won the match with a standing arm submission. As Gunner would not break the hold after the bell, the decision was reversed and Kazarian was announced as the winner.
Mr Anderson comes to the ring and apologises to his fans (his “assholes”) for joining Immortal and challenges Bully Ray to a match…
Bully Ray comes to the ring and tells Mr Anderson that he doesn’t want another match with him.
Anderson asks Bully Ray if he would deny him a Philadelphia Falls Count Anywhere Match at Bound For Glory? Bully Ray heads out of the ring…..
Great Rob Van Dam / Jerry Lynn feud highlight package
Eric Bischoff is backstage and he gives his reaction to Hogan’s retirement later tonight. He calls it the “end of an era“.
Kid Kash comes across Brian Kendrick backstage cutting a promo on guys in the X Division. Kash slaps Kendrick really hard (REALLY hard!) and beats him down, telling him if he had something to say about him, he should say it to his face next time….
Madison Rayne & Winter Vs Velvet & Mickie
This was a good, but short knockout tag match. It could have been better if they had more time.
Good Kazarian Promotional Video
Footage of Hogan teaming with Abyss is shown….
Backstage, Kurt Angle tells Eric Bischoff that he told Jeff Hardy to stay away from TNA and now he’s going to take him out…. Eric tells Kurt to leave to it him instead….
Eric comes to the ring and cuts a great promo on Jeff Hardy, calling him a disgrace to pro wrestling and the guys who paved the way for him. Eric tells him to “12 Step his way out of TNA”…
Jeff Hardy says that while some people agree with Eric, there are others that don’t agree with him…. Hardy then hits the Twist Of Fate on Eric and shouts “Screw you” down the microphone to Bischoff and escapes the ring before Jeff Jarrett, Bully Ray and Gunner can make their way down the ramp to jump him.
Backstage Jeff Hardy says what happened in the ring was wrong, if he is out of TNA, then he is out on his own terms…
Samoa Joe Vs Crimson
A solid, but short TV match. I miss seeing longer Samoa Joe matches in TNA.
While Samoa Joe is working on Crimson’s leg, he gets caught in a quick roll up and pinned.
I think Crimson is a good talent and has been doing well with his current push.
Backstage, Bully Ray accepts Mr Anderson’s challenge for a Falls Count Anywhere match at Bound For Glory in Philadelphia, his own stomping grounds and where he started in the business.
Backstage James Storm says that he’s happy for Roode that he is getting the opportunity to go to Bound For Glory to face Kurt Angle for the World Title and it will not be the end of Beer Money. However, he will be trying to beat Roode in their match tonight….
Another UFC-style Robert Roode video package, featuring him training for his match with Kurt Angle at Bound For Glory…. These are all great….
Robert Roode Vs James Storm
This was a really great match, which could have gone either way. Robert Roode managed to win the match with a perfectly executed Cradle Suplex (“Perfect Plex!”).
This was a great main event.
Hulk Hogan comes to the ring and starts talking about his career and talking like he will be retiring tonight.
Sting joins him in the ring after shots of him watching Hogan on a monitor backstage are shown during Hogan’s goodbye speech. Sting tells Hogan that he doesn’t believe he will be retiring and reveals Hogan’s plans by playing a video on the big screen of Hogan speaking with Eric Bischoff backstage, talking about how he was planning on fooling everyone that he would be retiring.
Sting says that he wants Hogan in the ring at Bound For Glory.
They should have ended the show with James Storm Vs Robert Roode
Why didn’t TNA push the AJ Styles / Chris Daniels feud? That seems crazy to me, but hopefully they will push it hard next week instead.
Overall, I enjoyed watching Impact this week, with the exception of the Sting / Hogan promo at the end of the show. It wasn’t that the promo segment was bad as such, it just wasn’t what fans want to see in 2011 and Hogan’s over-acting is just too much to take.
I thought that they built really well toward Bound For Glory with this show.
