TNA Impact Wrestling 19th April 2012

Bobby Roode comes to the ring with a new haircut and talks about beating Storm at Lockdown.
Mr Anderson comes to the ring to challenge Roode before Jeff Hardy comes to the ring to also challenge Roode.  Hogan appears on the screen and tells them that he wants all the champions in the ring later tonight. He also books Mr Anderson Vs Jeff Hardy for the main event tonight.
I liked this segment until Hogan popped up on the screen, but at least we didn’t have to wait for him to hobble his way down the ramp.

Matt Morgan & Austin Aries Vs Bully Ray & Crimson
Bully Ray & Crimson cut off the ring and work over Morgan’s leg. Excellent Exploder Suplex by Crimson.
Morgan eventually makes the hot tag to Austin Aries who takes out both Crimson and Bully Ray. Great suicide dive on Crimson. Back in the ring, Aries tries to hit the Brainbuster on Bully Ray, but he escapes and rolls up Aries, hooking the tights, to steal the win.
Aries was awesome in this match, as always.

Hardy cuts a backstage promo on Angle being responsible for him not being the TNA World Champion, but now he’s out the way the only one standing in his way is Mr Anderson.
Hardy has great face paint tonight.

Rob Van Dam, Mr Anderson, AJ Styles come to the ring with Garett and Garett stands with the microphone and says that as a team they were victorious at Lockdown and they got rid of his father Eric Bischoff once and for all….
AJ Styles tells Garett that he has balls for taking a beating and hitting Eric with the guitar.
I’m pissed off because Rob Van F’n Dam is standing in the ring like an afterthought when he is the man.
Ric Flair comes out and tells Garett that he is a disrespectful disgrace. Flair says that he’s disappointed in Styles for hanging out with Garett and that next week he is going to throw a party as a special tribute for Eric Bischoff.

Daniels and Kazarian are backstage. Daniels says everyone asks him what the secret is that he has over Kazarian, but the secret has never been about Kazarian, it’s about AJ Styles and he has a document with him that he teases he will reveal tonight.

Bobby Roode  / James Storm video package.
Roode: “There is nothing that I wont do to keep this World Heavyweight Championship in my possession.”
Storm: “Four years to build a team, four years to build a friendship. One bottle to end it all.”
A bloody Storm cuts a promo from after his match at Lockdown. He says that he doesn’t know what’s next for him, but first he’s going home to spend time with his family….

Kurt Angle Vs AJ Styles
A very injured Angle and Styles engage in a very short match. Chris Daniels and Kazarian come to the ring with the document they talked about earlier. Angle rolls up a distracted Styles for the pin. Styles has the document inside an envelope and looks very concerned about it…

Joseph Park stops Gunner backstage and demands to know where his brother is. Gunner says the last time he saw him was in the ring with Bully Ray, so he should go and ask him.
This is the first time that Mr Park actually put his hands on anyone backstage, as he grabbed hold of Gunner at one point as he tried to walk away.

The TNA Champions head to the ring… Bobby Roode, Gail Kim, Austin Aries, Devon, Samoa Joe and Magnus.

RVD and Hogan bump into each other backstage and Hogan says that he has a No.1 contenders match between Hardy and Mr Anderson tonight but he wants to make it into a 3 way match and he’s looking for the 3rd man…. They both agree that Van Dam is the man they are looking for.

Hogan makes his way down the ramp. They show different shots of the audience instead of Hogan walking to the ring….
Hogan says that once a month, TNA Impact Wrestling will be Open Fight Night. Someone who isn’t on the roster will get the chance to tell their story and have a match, while three judges will decide if they get a place on the TNA roster. Also, anyone on the TNA roster can challenge any champion to a Title match.
Roode asks Hogan who he thinks he is, as this is his show as the World Heavyweight Champion and no one tells him what to do.
Devon says that he’s happy to defend his Title at any time.
Devon must love being in the ring with Hogan, he’s a big fan.
This doesn’t sound like a good idea to me, but I’ll reserve judgement until I see it.

Tera, Dressmaker, Velvet Sky & Mickie James Vs Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, Rosita, Serita
This was a fun 8 Knockout Tag match. Miss Tessmacher beat Gail Kim with a quick roll up.

Has every match really ended with a quick roll up tonight?

Crimson cuts a promo on Matt Morgan, while they show footage of Morgan being helped in the back with his injured leg.
Crimson says that he has either pinned everyone or made them submit so he wants a shot at the World Title.
Eric Young & ODB are sunbathing and talking about their wedding last week. Eric strips down to his trunks and threatens a guy who looks at ODB before getting back to the sunbathing….

TV Championship: Devon Vs Gunner
This was a good little brawl-style TV match, which Devon won with a big Spinebuster.

James Storm heads to the ring and Devon shakes his hand on his way…
Storm says that he wants to apologise to his family, friends and fans that he’s sorry because he feels that he let everyone down for saying he would become World Champion but it didn’t happen. Storm says that he was trying to hurt Roode at Lockdown and when he saw him being helped outside the ring, he was happy about that, but when he got home and tucked his daughter into bed, his daughter asked to see his World Championship, but he couldn’t show it to her and he felt like a failure for that. He looked in a mirror and saw a guy who was beat, but Roode didn’t beat him, he beat himself.
Storm says that as Roode has said about him, maybe his luck has run out. He drops the microphone and walks down the ramp, to the back.
I thought this was an excellent promo.

No.1 Contender Match for the World Title
Rob Van Dam Vs Jeff Hardy Vs Mr Anderson
RVD looks in super shape again. During his last run, I thought he looked a little heavier than he has before.
Great action in this match. Credit to Jeff Hardy for competing in this match right after his war with Angle at Lockdown, which he went into with injuries. I worry about Jeff’s health. He takes more risks than most.
Rob Van Dam reverses a Twist Of Fate attempt and turns it into a backslide / split on Jeff Hardy to score the pin and become No.1 contender.
If I was booking a company and Rob Van Dam was in it. You can be assured that he would be my champion.
