TNA Impact 3.5.2012

Ric Flair comes to the ring and calls out Hulk Hogan.   Hulk comes to the ring and says that he didn’t come down to fight. Hogan says he hanged his boots up when he agreed to being general manager. Hogan asks Ric to help TNA and be a judge for “Gut Check”. Ric Flair agrees.

Brooke & Velvet Vs Gail Kim & Madison Rayne

This was a good knockout tag match. For the finish, Gail Kim catches Tessmacher’s boot but Brooke hooks Gail’s arm and nails her with her own “Eat Defeat” move to score the win.

Rob Van Dam is in the ring and he reminds the fans how great he is and says that he’s going to win back the World Title - that he never lost in the first place - from Bobby Roode at Sacrifice.
Bobby Roode comes out and reminds RVD that he is the most dominant champion in Impact history.
RVD & Roode are choosing each other’s opponents for the night. RVD picks Mr Anderson to face Roode.
Roode picks Jeff Hardy as RVD’s opponent.

Roode / Storm video package…. They show Roode leaving Lockdown as Champion and promos.
“There are no more heroes left to beat”.  Taz shares his thoughts on RVD’s return and RVD says that while he’s been away he has been working out and stretching, but since he has had some time away from TNA, now he’s hungrier for that World Title. They show RVD securing his World Title show with his win over Jeff Hardy & Mr Anderson.

TV Title: Devon Vs Robbie T
This was a short match. Robbie E came into the ring and hit Devon with his clipboard, causing Robbie T to be disqualified.

Ric Flair is backstage with Al Snow, talking about Gut Check. Al Snow introduces the third judge, Bruce Prichard….  Snow, Prichard and Flair are shown backstage talking about Alex Silva who tried out last week in a match with Robbie E.

Hulk Hogan is backstage with Mr Anderson and says that he has made his match with Roode a no-DQ match.

Rob Van Dam Vs Jeff Hardy
Great action in this little TV match. World Champion Bobby Roode comes to the ring and accidentally hits Hardy with his belt rather than RVD.

Joseph Park approaches Bully Ray backstage says that he knows he had something to do with the disappearance of his brother Chris and he is going to prove it….
Bully Ray tells him that unless he wants to go missing like his brother, he will stay away from him.

Footage airs of Eric Bischoff’s farewell party last week.
Jeremy Bischoff is backstage talking about how much Eric deserved what happened last week, when Bully Ray stops him and takes  him to the ring by his tie.
Bully Ray says that he’s heard enough about the bullying campaigns… “What about the stop being a little bitch and stand up for yourself campaign?” I loved that line.  Bully Ray is awesome.
Austin Aries comes to the ring to face Bully Ray.
Great promos by both guys, with Aries finally snapping and beating Bully Ray into one of the corners of the ring and busting his lip open. As security holds him back, Bully Ray delivers a low-blow soccer kick on Aries, leaving him laying in the ring.

Kurt Angle is backstage with Kaz and Daniels and tells them that he doesn’t care about the photo that they have, he just wants to prove he can make AJ Styles tap out to the ankle lock.

Kurt Angle, Chris Daniels & Kazarian Vs AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Brutus Magnus
Excellent action in this 6 man tag, shame it couldn’t have lasted longer.
Angle has the ankle lock on Styles, but Kaz tags himself into the match. Angle and Daniels get knocked out of the ring and Kaz gets caught in the Styles Clash and wins the match for his team.
After the match, Chris Daniels says that he’s going to reveal the truth behind the photos he has of AJ Styles next week on Impact Wrestling.

Alex Silva joins the Gut Check judges - Bruce Prichard, Al Snow and Ric Flair in the ring.
They give him 30 seconds to sell himself and he does a great job.  All judges agree and we have a new member of the TNA roster.

No DQ: Bobby Roode Vs Mr Anderson

I thought this was a good TV match. While Roode had the advantage in the match and started to stalk Anderson with a steel chair, Jeff Hardy comes to the ring and takes the chair from him. Anderson hits the Mic Check on Hardy, setting himself up for Roode who attacks him with the chair and captures the win with a well executed Fisherman’s Suplex.   Roode beats on Hardy and Anderson who are both down in the ring before RVD runs down the ramp to make the save. Roode escapes out of the ring. While RVD is checking on Hardy and Anderson, Roode runs into the ring and attacks RVD from behind. RVD is left laying in the ring after nailing him with a big DDT onto a steel chair.

Impact was pretty good this week.  A couple of good TV matches, some good promos and they are doing well to build the matches for TNA Sacrifice, which I’m looking forward to.
