TNA Impact! 13th October 2011
Kurt Angle calls Robert Roode to the ring and they talk about their match at Bound For Glory.
Kurt Angle leaves the ring and stops on the ramp on the way out to tell Roode that he will be facing Gunner and Jeff Jarrett in a handicap match later tonight.
Backstage, Rob Van Dam and AJ Styles are brawling with Jerry Lynn and Chris Daniels.
Back from the break, Lynn and Daniels take AJ down the ramp and into the ring.
RVD comes to the ring to even the odds and the tag match starts.
These four guys are some of the best I’ve ever seen in the ring, so of course the action was great, but I’d never expect anything else from any of these guys.
Great match, I would have liked it to have lasted longer, but then I would say the same thing if it lasted 30 minutes. I can’t get enough of watching great wrestling like this.
Matt Morgan Vs Samoa Joe
After a short match, Matt Morgan gets a quick pin on Samoa Joe. Morgan gets caught in a heel hook by Joe after the match and Crimson comes limping to the ring with a steel chair to help Morgan.
Samoa Joe heads down the ramp and issues a challenge to both guys for a Triple Threat match at Bound For Glory.
Mexican America call out Ink Inc and they brawl in the ring before a mysterious punk woman debuts and helps Ink Inc get the advantage.
Kid Kash & Austin Aries Vs Brian Kendrick & Jesse Sorensen
Good tag match. Kendrick gets the hot tag after Aries and Kash work on Sorensen for a while.
Aries and Kash start shoving each other, leading to Jesse spearing Kash out of the ring.
Kendrick hits the Sliced Bread onto the X-Division Title which is inside the ring, to get the win by pinfall.
Velvet, Mickie, Winter and Angelina come to the ring and they are followed by Karen, Madison & Traci.
Karen tells the knockouts that she had to fight to get them booked at Bound For Glory.
While Karen is berating Velvet, Traci schoolboy trips Karen, who rolls out of the ring.
Karen tells Traci she is going to be paying for this and “Scrubbing toilets for the rest of your life”
Mickie and Velvet brawl with Winter and Angelina in the ring as they go to break
AJ Styles is in the car park, about to leave the arena and he’s cutting a promo on Daniels about how since their last match, their kids don’t play with each other anymore…. Daniels jumps him and chokes him out with a cable and leaves him laying.
Mr Anderson Vs Scott Steiner.
I really liked this match. I still enjoy Steiner’s work. Whether it’s his picture-perfect suplexes or the way he gets in the referee’s face when he only gets a two count. I really like his work still.
Abyss comes to the ring during the match with a chain and tries to strike Anderson with it, but misses and catches Steiner. Anderson pins Steiner and leaves the ring.
Immortal (Jarrett, Gunner, Bully Ray) come to the ring and disrespect Abyss, who tries to attack them, but he is beaten down by Immortal.
Mr Anderson returns to the ring to help Abyss, but he is caught by Bully Ray and “Bubba-Bombed” (should that be “Bully-Bombed” now?) though a table.
Kurt Angle is backstage with James Storm and asks him if he has thought about his offer…. James Storm says that the only reason he doesn’t whip Angle’s ass right now is because he’s leaving it to Bobby to do at Bound For Glory.
Jeff Jarrett (with Gunner) cuts a promo on Abyss backstage
Jeff Jarrett & Gunner Vs Robert Roode
Bobby Roode manages to beat the odds and win the match by making Gunner submit to his arm lock.
Scott Steiner and Bully Ray come to the ring after the match and attack Roode before James Storm comes to help, but Immortal out-number Beer Money and continue to beat them down.
Kurt Angle slowly makes his way to the ring.
Just before he gets to strike Bobby Roode, Jeff Hardy’s music hits and he comes down the ramp and clears Immortal from the ring.
Jeff Hardy extends his hand to Beer Money and they reluctantly shake hands…
I like how they had Hardy re-earn his respect on-screen with Beer Money.
After the break they show footage of Hogan making his retirement speech last week and the fans chanting “Thank you Hogan”…. before he is revealed by Sting to be fooling everyone…
Jeff Jarrett tells Jeff Hardy that he’s not welcome in TNA and he had better not appear at Bound For Glory.
Hardy goes to leave, but Jarrett pulls him back…. Hardy tells Jarrett that he will be at Bound For Glory….
Jeremy Borash is in the ring and announces Hulk Hogan, who takes way to long to get to the ring for his contract signing with Sting.
I’m not interested in seeing this match and this promo segment hasn’t helped, but I just hope it’s kept short and that they don’t make it the main event (last match) as that would be really insulting.
While Hogan and Sting are in the ring, Eric Bischoff stands on the ramp and distracts Sting.
Hogan nails Sting with a chair and puts the boots to him in the corner as Impact goes off the air.
Overall, I thought this was a good Impact, I enjoyed the show, but my main complaint is that they really try to fit too much onto each show. They have a big roster and I can understand them wanting to feature everyone they can, but sometimes I feel like less would be more.
I may be the only one wanting this, but I feel like if they had another two hour show each week, they would be able to feature the whole roster and give more time to the matches and feuds.
I’m looking forward to Bound For Glory and they have really been doing a great job with Robert Roode’s push. He may win the Title at Bound For Glory and he may not, but either way, TNA have been making him look like a main event talent and I hope that they keep him at that level and don’t shuffle him down the deck before the end of the year.
