WWE Raw Review 17.10.2011
John Lauranaitis cuts another boring promo and calls out Jim Ross, he says that he has booked Jim Ross in a match tonight…. Isn’t the start of the show where they are supposed to book something that we actually WANT to see later tonight?
Christian, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry Vs Randy Orton Sheamus & John Morrison
Randy punches Christian to start the match, before both guys tag out.
Sheamus and Cody come into the ring and Sheamus punches and kicks Cody.
Cody slides out of the ring and Mark Henry steps in.

Commercial Break….
John Morrison and Mark Henry are punching each other.
Christian gets the tag and finally two guys who can work are in the ring. Christian misses a cross body from the top rope and the work between both guys is good - all 30 seconds of it, before Mark Henry is tagged in and headbutts Morrison and walks slowly around the ring. Christian is tagged in again and he applies a chinlock. Morrison kicks off Christian, but Mark Henry gets the tag and holds Morrison in a bear hug.
Morrison kicks Henry gains the advantage. Sheamus and Christian brawl on the outside and through the crowd, leaving only Morrison and Henry in the match.
Morrison punches Mark Henry inside the ring, but gets caught in the “Worlds Strongest Man” and pinned.
This was awful.
Not even John Morrison and Christian could save it.
This is what a match look like when they are written move-for-move by writers who don’t know anything about pro wrestling.
It’s easy for them to write “X punches Y in the corner and then Y takes advantage by kicking X, X then gets caught in a chinlock, Y breaks free with punches and then Y gets his finisher and the match ends”
I often say that the WWE style is “Punch-punch-punch- kick-kick-kick-chinlock” …. There is a very good reason for it!
If you don’t believe it, try to write a move-for-move account of WWE matches yourself, and you’ll see that almost every single match is built around this on Raw and Smack Down especially.
WWE don’t allow the real talents in the company to do what they are capable of doing and for the guys who can’t work very well, it’s just unwatchable.
For example, Cena can’t throw worked punches or apply his own finish or chinlock properly. They should see this and give him something else he can do instead, but no, it’s the same things he can‘t do every week.
I guess it’s just easier to write for the creative team.
Nattie Vs Eve
Nattie punches Eve in the corner, Eve fires back with punches, Nattie gets Eve in an abdominal stretch.
Eve punches her way out but Nattie kicks her on the ground and spanks her.
Nattie kicks Eve again. Eve misses a kick, reverses a slam attempt on Nattie and gets a moonsault from the top rope for the win.
WWE usually always put over the least deserving person in their matches.
Lots of time-wasting later and finally Punk, Triple H, R-Truth and Miz are standing in the ring….

Punk is left laying in the ring….
Commercial Break….
Vicky is in the ring with a microphone…. The volume on my TV has been turned down, no idea what she is saying, don’t care either.
Microphone gets passed to Dolph Ziggler, TV Volume goes up…
Good promo work by Dolph, Swagger sings the US national anthem to rile up the Mexican fans….
Zack Ryder Vs Jack Swagger.
This match lasted about 30 seconds.
Swagger punches Zack Ryder a few times before Zack Ryder gets his leg lariat on Swagger and pins him.
Mason Ryan comes to the ring to prevent Dolph and Jack from attacking Ryder.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler go through the awful looking card for WWE’s Vengeance PPV this weekend.
Alberto takes ages to get to the ring as always, what a waste of time. I checked my emails and replied to a couple of them in the time it took him to be announced and reach the ring.
When he finally did get to the ring, they went to a commercial break…..

Cena says that at Vengeance their match will be a Last Man Standing match.
