When I'm critical of the WWE Product, especially Raw, many WWE fans reply to me "Yeah, Raw is full of comedy and no good wrestling, but SMACK DOWN is WWE's wrestling show. Smack Down has good matches and wrestling angles"

Okay, fine. Let's take a look at yesterday's Smack Down and let's identify all this great pro wrestling!

My SD thoughts 23 / 9 / 2011

Apart from a neckbreaker by Heath Slater and a shoulderblock from the top rope by Sheamus, the entire match consiststed of a WWE trademark chinlock spot (There is a boring chinlock in almost every match) and kicks and punches. That's it.

Wade Barrett beat Justin Gabriel. Gabriel showed some good disciplined kicks and a couple of other good moves, but Wade won the match with only punches and kicks before hitting his boring "Fireman's carry drop" finisher.

There is a big difference between kicks thrown by guys like RVD, Daniel Bryan and Tyson Kidd - which are skilled, disciplined kicks with form - and the kicking that Sheamus and Wade Barrett do, which are just clumsy front kicks which have all the form you would see in a fight between two five year old girls in a playground.

HIAC Video is shown, making it look like some kind of evil structure of death.... but no mention of it being yet another un-violent PG PPV that kids can enjoy, I guess that can just be taken for granted now in 2011?
So what if we are going to see guys punching, kicking and applying chinlocks while there is a cell around them? Big deal.
Hell In Cell matches should be violent matches by design. By the standards that WWF set themselves when they started HIAC matches.
They should be called "CIAC" matches now..... Chinlocks In A Cell!

Nattie & Beth Vs AJ & Kaitlyn
Pros Vs Amateurs who don't belong in a wrestling ring.
Michael Cole reminds us how AJ is in a "relationship" with Hornswoggle, thanks for that Cole.
I actually thought the amateurs would go over like normal, but they let the women who can actually work a match win this week!

Boring Orton makes his way to the ring to face Cody Rhodes.

Orton Kicks, throws Cody outside the ring and into the padded barrier at ringside and then throws him back into the ring. Cody kicks and punches Orton. Orton punches Cody in the corner and kicks him.
Cody kicks Orton to change the tide of the match and then starts kicking his leg.
Orton fires back with Punches. Cody returns fire with another kick and punches and wraps Orton's leg around the turnbuckle post.
Cody hits Orton with his mask, Orton kicks out of a pin attempt.
Orton catches a kick and hits Cody with his own mask. Orton gets DQ'd.
Orton hits Cody with the thin plastic mask a few times after the match and then does his rope-assited DDT....

I like how some WWE fans posted on different places online about how "WWE isn't just a kiddy product, Cody bled on Smack Down!" Hmmmm..... WWE cut it so no blood was shown. So I guess by their rationale, that confirms that WWE really is a kiddy show.

Sheamus takes a bite out of a raw potato and spits it out as it doesn't taste like it's from Ireland...
Really, who writes this crap, so I can send them hate mail!?? - Not just over the potato, but just the general goofyness and pathetic unfunny comedy promos they have all their guys do.

Great Khali comes to the ring to face Jinder Mahal
Horrible match. Horrible. Fake looking punch after fake looking punch, Jinder kicks Khali, Khali chokeslams Jinder and pins him.

So far Smack Down has been completely worthless, trash.

Daniel Bryan Vs Sin Cara

Finally a little bit of actual wrestling.
After 2 minutes of said wrestling, the 2nd Sin Cara comes to the ring and pins Daniel Bryan after hitting ONE MOVE!!
I had to wait over an hour of Smack Down for some wrestling and it lasted 2 minutes and the match had a screwy finish.

Daniel Bryan's losing streak continues and Michael Cole does his best to bury him on commentary as always....

The Usos Vs Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne

4 great athletes in the same ring, this should be good.
Awesome action by these guys, but the match lasted 4 minutes. I timed it.
WWE's only worthwhile match of the week was 4 minutes.

Christian comes to the ring... I expect this to be the highlight of the whole match with Mark Henry (a lumberjack match) which is about to happen....

WWE Comedy World Champion Mark Henry looks like he's exhausted walking down the ramp, by the time he gets in the ring, it looks like he needs to sit down and take a rest.

Hahaha, Mark Henry misses the most comical stomp ever on Christian, slams him and then sits in a nerve hold.
Mark Henry catches Christian in a bearhug - Hahahaha, this really is crappy wrestling at it's most crappy.
Christian Punches Henry to no effect, hits a dropkick from the ropes to no effect, but a second one sends him down.
Mark Henry takes ages to get back up, but he's not selling, he's really trying to get up hahahaha
Mark Henry tries to sit on Christian but Christian slides to the outside.
The lumberjacks attack Mark Henry outside the ring, but he knocks them all down.
Sheamus sends Christian into the ring, Mark Henry slams him and pins him.

Orton comes to the ring and punches Mark Henry, hits a dropkick to his chest and Mark Henry rolls to the outside....

End of Smack Down...

Who says that Smack Down is WWE's "Wrestling" show!?? Those people must be blind.

If anyone knows of any wrestling I missed on Smack Down, please let me know because I didn't see it.
