SummerSlam 2011 Thoughts By David Damage

The guitarist from Tool opens the show with a guitar solo rendition of the American National Anthem

The opening six man tag team match was going well, but ended way too early, so it just resembled a random Raw match.
One good thing is that Miz was booked in the match, meaning that he had 5 other  guys to make the match watchable and we didn't have to see him try to work a  singles match tonight.

Mark Henry Vs Sheamus was a typical crappy WWE match.
All these guys do is punch, kick, shove and shoulder-block, in-between leaning on  each other - all in slow motion. Horrible.
I've never seen either of these guys in a half-decent match and I doubt I ever will
because there is nothing athletic about them, they are just big, clumsy idiots.
It's not just because they are big either, as big men like Big Boss Man, Vader, Bam
Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, John Kronus and many others proved that big guys
can be athletes and great workers in the ring.
These guys are just big goofs with no athletic ability at all.
Crappy count out finish, I just wish that it came a lot sooner.
Mark Henry won via count out. Please WWE don't let me have to sit through
another match between these two again (although I know you will).

What's with a dumb, fat, transvestite black guy wearing an XXL woman's shiny dress, while doing a Stevie Wonder impression while singing and dancing for ages on the stage?
Complete crap. Waste of time. Someone needs to be fired for this.

Kelly Kelly can't run the ropes yet, but of course she picked up the win over Beth
Phoenix. Bad match, horrible finish.
Short match, but Kelly still managed to mess up most of the things she tried,  including failure to put her shoulders to the mat for a 2 count at one point.
How a person gets to be that clueless, I just don't know. She should be used to
laying down on her back by now, she has had enough practice with most of the locker room...

Daniel Bryan Vs Wade Barrett was okay. Daniel Bryan was great as he always is,
but he was in there with Wade. I didn't pay attention to the match as much as I
should have after all the crap that came before it, but I'll watch it tomorrow... It
seemed okay, although Wade won.

Edge was brought out by Christian but Edge came to the ring, called Christian a crybaby and left....

Christian Vs Orton again....
This was the first match that felt like a PPV match on the entire show (Everything else before it looked like short TV matches). It was slow paced, but thankfully they used a variety of weapons to try and make it a bit more interesting. Christian is such a great talent, but all Randy Orton matches just feel a bit akward, slow and boring to me.
Orton wins the World Title for what feels like the 20th time already. Boring.....

CM Punk Vs Cena...
This match just seemed to drag from the start. I thought that they were pacing themselves for a long match, which was why there was so many wear-down holds early on... but it wasn't to be, those wear-down holds were the actual match.
They traded punches in an effort to get fans chanting for each guy - but it didn't seem to work like it did at the MITB PPV.
CM Punk covers Cena and even though Cena's leg is draped over one of the ropes, Triple H still counts to 3.
I thought "This is where Cena protests and Triple H re-starts the match"... but it didn't happen, so we were just left with this anti-climactic screwy finish to their main event at Summerslam which mainly consisted of rest holds. Cena leaves the ring.
Triple H raises CM Punk's hand and then leaves the ring.

Kevin "Diesel" Nash comes to the ring and Jacknife Powerbombs Punk and then leaves. He gets the biggest pop of the night and these few seconds were the absolute highlight of the whole PPV for me.

With Punk Laying in the ring, Alberto Del Rio comes out, cashes in his MITB, pins CM Punk and leaves with the WWE Title.
WWE are touring Mexico soon, so having Alberto as champ will be good for them at the box office.
I feel indifferent about it all, I just don't care about WWE or their Titles anymore, but this was a really bad show.

The only positive thing I can say about SummerSlam 2011 and the only thing I'll remember about it in a year's time is that Kevin Nash Jacknife Powerbombed CM Punk. Everything else was filler. 2 hours and 45 minutes of filler.
