David Damage: This Week In WWE
Raw Thoughts 15th August 2011
Triple H promos are so slow and boring
John Morrison Vs R-Truth
Great work by both guys in the match. I'm sure this will be the best thing on Raw all night. Thumbs up from me.
Miz & Jared segment? Complete crap. Waste of air time. Waste of my time, even though I fast forwarded past it.
Kelly & Eve Vs Bella Twins
For my own sanity I didn't really watch it, but I'm sure it was worthless
Punk / Kevin Nash Segment
I
haven't said a bad thing about WWE bringing in old, broken down Nash to
work with the most over guy in the company because at least I respect
Nash and he can still outwork Cena, Orton, Wade, etc
Nash can cut a good, serious promo and he's an intelligent guy which is more than I can say for most guys on the roster.
I like Jack Swagger, but Alex Riley needs to be sent back to wrestling school, he's not ready for TV, it's embarrassing.
Dolph Ziggler was great on commentary. Nothing but good things to say about Dolph. Wish Vicky would disappear though.
Kofi & Evan Bourne Vs McGillicutty & Otunga
This
was just a little filler match. Kofi and Evan are always great in the
ring, but I think it took more time watching them come to the ring than
they had inside it.
Alberto Vs Mysterio was okay.
Cena comes out and attacks Alberto.... so now Cena's chasing Alberto for the WWE Title. Damn WWE sucks in 2011.
WWE NXT Thoughts
Hornswoggle segments are so hokey
Why have WWE put blonde streaks in Maxine's hair? It looked fine before.
Tyson
Kid's rolling half crab on JTG went a little wrong, but it's good to
see it being used. Tyson has been working out with Lance Storm recently.
Darren Young and Matt Striker had a good little TV match
Derrick
Bateman seems like a good young talent who needs more seasoning, but
Titus O Neal looks completely lost out there. He's horrible.
Do we really need the last 15 minutes of every NXT showing the main event of Raw?
Isn't it enough for them to have "WWE Bottom Line", "This Week In WWE" and "WWE Experience" to recap Raw every week!?
WWE Superstars Thoughts
Trent Barreta Vs Wade Barrett
Trent
has been having some great matches on Superstars over the last year,
but I find Wade Barrett so boring. He’s one of the kick-punch-chin-lock
guys I often refer to. When Trent Barreta was on the offence, the match
was interesting, when Wade Barrett was in control, the match was boring.
Brodus Clay beat down a jobber. This guy reminds me of a new, greener Mable / Viscera. Like we really need a new one…
Santino Vs Primo
These guys could have a good match, but this was just comedy for the kids watching.
We have to watch / fast forward through yet another recap of Alberto / Mysterio / Cena from Raw again….
Drew
McIntyre and Zack Ryder have an okay match, mainly built around
kicking, punching, time wasting and a pointless arm bar for no reason.
Typical WWE style. Not really the kind of match I enjoy watching. Good
to see Zack Ryder picking up the win though.
WWE Smack Down Thoughts
Randy Orton promos so boring. I ignored this whole opening segment, just looking up when Cody came out.
IC Title: Cody Rhodes Vs Ezekiel
Cody continues to impress me. It is great that he remains Intercontinental Champion.
I
don't know why they are trying to re-create Ahmed Johnson with Ezekiel -
who isn't half as good as Ahmed was and his promos are even less
tolerable.
Tyson Kidd Vs Justin Gabriel
Great work by both
guys. It's unlikely WWE are going to have this match on a PPV, so I
don't see why they couldn't be given more TV time to have their match
here on Smack Down. Impressive 450 splash by Gabriel and I liked this
match.
I'm recording SD from my Sky+ box to my DVD recorder hard
drive, so I'm not able to fast forward Alberto Del Rio's entrance.....
This all takes way too long... And then he cuts a really long-winded,
boring promo recapping his match with Mysterio on Monday. The one we've
all seen. The one they also showed on Nxt and recapped on all their
recap shows.
Thankfully Daniel Bryan comes out and cuts a good short promo.
Daniel Bryan Vs Alberto
Daniel Bryan is the best wrestler in WWE, who is always a pleasure to watch in the ring.
A
lot of the match revolved around Alberto having Daniel Bryan in varied
arm bars and arm locks, but it makes sense that Alberto would work on
Daniel's arm, considering Alberto's finish is the arm lock submission.
I
can't stand it when WWE matches just have random rest holds for no
reason other than to give the guys in the match a chance to rest and
figure out the next spot, but that wasn't happening here.
Good match and in my opinion, Alberto's best match in WWE so far.
Alberto
won clean with his arm lock submission and slapped it on again after
the match before Sin Cara came to the ring to make the save.
I would
have preferred it if Alberto somehow cheated or took as shortcut to win
the match, to protect Daniel Bryan, who has the MITB for next year's
WrestleMania, but that's just personal opinion.
Nattie & Alicia Vs AJ & Kelly
AJ
and Kelly are useless and shouldn't be booked in any matches, but at
least the booking of the match had Nattie no-selling most of AJ's
offence. That's how it should always be when you have an experienced
women's wrestler in the ring with someone who doesn't know what they are
doing. Kelly is a danger in the ring, she messed up another face-plant
bulldog... at least I think that is what it was supposed to be.
The
useless Kelly Kelly (so dumb, they named her twice so she only had to
remember one name) got the pinfall on Alicia. Nattie beat down Alicia
after the match.
Battle Royal
I enjoy a good battle royal... but this wasn't a good one.
Booker
T should be on the active roster. It's insane they have so many bad,
boring and amateur workers on Smack Down like Mark Henry, Great Khali,
Sheamus, Jinder, Wade Barrett, etc in the ring, yet they have a true
headliner, great athlete, living legend and real superstar behind the
announce desk. Booker T would be my favourite guy on either the Raw or
Smack Down rosters if they let him compete. He's still in amazing shape
and could out-work anyone in the company. He could sell tons of T-shirts
and the crowd would be into everything he does. He's super over.
Mark F'n Henry won the Battle Royal. If that's not a big middle finger from WWE to all it's fans, then I don't know what is.
Orton
Vs Henry at the next PPV? That’s much more than a middle finger to it‘s
fans, that’s more like being sodomised by the company for watching.
